Third Quarterly Meeting

This meeting was called to order by President Martha Hannah at 6:00 p.m. 

Roll Call:  Those in attendance are Martha Hannah, Robert Devereux, John Lavin, Alan Hannah, Chip Patrick, Steve Williamson, Curt Barraco, R.J. Dyett and Vance Harris.  Newly elected Supervisors of Football, Chris Vahey and Volleyball, Deane Booth were also introduced. Steve Bruno was introduced as the newly appointed Vice President.

Secretary's Report:  Minutes from the second quarterly meeting which were recorded by Ex Vice President Richard Kowalewski were presented and accepted to record.

Treasurer's Report:  Treasurer Robert Devereux submitted an Aged Receivables Report, as well as an Account Reconciliation Report. The report was accepted to record by voice vote.

Individual Division Reports.

Baseball:  Supervisor, Mike Orr reviewed the upcoming Baseball season. He voiced a concern with the loss of some veteran officials not working this year. There will be two additional schools to work this year.

Basketball:  Alan Hannah requested to delay his Divisional report. It will be covered in the New Business Heading.

Football:  Assigner, John Lavin reviewed the upcoming Flag Football Season. There will be nine schools this year to work. He advised that Fall Football posed varying challenges the past season with in season retirements, suspensions and some other out of the ordinary challenges. Chris Vahey was elected to serve as Supervisor on December 5, 2010.

Softball:  Supervisor, Curt Barraco.  Supervisor Barraco advised there were no issues at present and no complaints from Schools.  As the softball season is approaching, he mentioned the need to set up an appropriate Training Program. He reviewed upcoming meeting dates and soon would communicate to the Division with regards to training and field clinics, etc. Assigner, Hannah appealed to The Baseball and Flag Football assigners to have cooperation in scheduling to assure that all sports have qualified officials on the field for key games. All concurred to cooperated.

Volleyball:  Assigner, Steve Williamson introduced Deane Booth as the newly elected Supervisor of Volleyball. Williamson advised the group that A-1 officials worked three state finals in the past season. He also stated that he expected to have at least two schools for the spring boys’ season.

Old Business:  Secretary Harris queried Baseball Assigner, RJ Dyett as to the status of the “Super’ Association proposal from MCOA posted in the Oct, 4 meeting minutes. He advised that there was no update.

New Business:  Basketball Assigner, Hannah reviewed the status of claims made to the state with regard to a Christmas basketball tournament held at Atlantis High School. There were questions that need to be answered with regard to the Association eligibility, Assigner eligibility, and officials being out of FHSAA required uniform. It was resolved to feed the FHSAA as much information as could be developed and let them handle it.  Secretary Harris volunteered to meet with tournament director Norm Yelverton, discuss the developing story and find facts. He would report his findings to the Board at the conclusion of the meeting with Yelverton.

At 7:30 p.m. a motion to adjourn the meeting was made and seconded.  Motion was voted on by voice and approved.
